EAST LANSING, Mich. -- - The Michigan State hockey program will hold another Meet & Greet Event - an open practice and autograph session - at Suburban Ice - Macomb on Friday, December 28. This event is free and open to the public, and will run from 2-4 p.m.

This is the second Meet & Greet event the Spartans have put on this season, and will run in a similar format to the first event in Cheboygan in October. The Spartans will hold their final practice prior to the Great Lakes Invitational, (which begins the next day at Joe Louis Arena), taking the ice at 2 p.m. Michigan State will hold a one-hour practice, which is open to the public to view from seating areas.

Michigan State will practice for one hour, beginning at 2 p.m. At the end of practice, the Spartans will welcome their fans onto the ice for an autograph session which will run until 4 p.m. All players and coaches will remain on the ice, which will not be resurfaced after practice - this will allow for a rough surface suitable for walking on in street shoes. The players and coaches will be around the perimeter of the boards, and fans can walk around the rink to get autographs from fans.

"We're excited to be able to do this again - we have lots of our local fans who get to take advantage of things like this at Munn Ice Arena. I'm really excited to bring this to another area of the state, and give our fans an opportunity to interact with our players and coaches," said head coach Tom Anastos. "We did this in October in Cheboygan, and had a fantastic turnout. The people in our program got to meet some really great, wonderful, supportive fans, and our players had a blast. I'm really looking forward to doing this in the metro Detroit area - we have had wonderful fan support when we play at Joe Louis Arena, and it will be nice to connect with those who support us."

Team posters will be provided to fans in attendance to get autographs. Fans are reminded that this is NOT a skating event - fans will only be permitted onto the ice in street shoes.

The event at Suburban Ice is free for fans - there is no entry fee or charge for posters. The Spartans begin play the next day at the Great Lakes Invitational, and will take on Western Michigan at 3:35 p.m. in Saturday's semifinals. Sunday's games are at 3:30 p.m. (third-place game) and 7 p.m. (championship).
