Hildebrand Named The Big Ten First Star of the Week
Sophomore goaltender earned a shutout vs. No. 3 Michigan last week.

EAST LANSING - Michigan State sophomore goaltender Jake Hildebrand was named the Big Ten First Star of the Week, it was announced today by the conference office. It is Hildebrand's second career Big Ten weekly award as he was named the Second Star of the Week on Dec. 10.
Hildebrand stopped 70 of the 72 shots he faced (.972 save percentage) in last week's Great Lakes Invitational to help Michigan State tie Michigan Tech and defeat No. 3/3 Michigan.
In the tournament's opening game against the Huskies on Friday, the Butler, Pa., native recorded 41 saves, marking his second highest single-game save total this season.
In the consolation game against third-ranked Michigan the following day, Hildebrand notched his first shutout of the season with 29 saves 3-0 victory over the Wolverines. Hildebrand preserved the Spartans' early 1-0 lead with an outstanding performance that included 15 saves in the final period.
Hildebrand led all Big Ten goalies with a .946 save percentage in December. In 14 starts this season, he has a 2.27 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
