Impact Players for 2012

Michigan State Soccer Coach Damon Rensing discusses the top players for the 2012 Michigan State Men's Soccer team.

2012: Served as a stalwart defender for the second straight season , helping MSU to a team GAA of 1.09 ... Recorded the game-winning goal against Indiana in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament (11/9) ... Tallied an assiston Nick Wilson's goal against Providence (9/9).


2011: Named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team ... Named one of Top Drawer Soccer's Top 100 Freshmen ... Stepped in to play a significant role on the back line after injuries deeply affected the Spartan roster ... Appeared in 15 games, starting 11 and playing 90 minutes or more on 10 occasions ... Scored MSU's lone goal in a tough 2-1 overtime loss to Georgetown (9/9), scoring on a header off a restart ... Assisted on Adam Montague's game-tying goal at Indiana (10/23), as the Spartans rallied from a 2-0 deficit to settle on a 2-2 deadlock ... Headed in the game's only goal against Michigan (10/30), securing the Big Bear Trophy for the Spartans ... Named Academic All-Big Ten and to the list of Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.

Prior to MSU: Two-time First Team All-State honoree at Grand Blanc High School where he helped lead the team to three consecutive conference championships and a state semifinal in 2008...Team captain in 2009 Keener scored 15 goals and had 11 assists as a defender...Won a national championship with his club team the Michigan Wolves Soccer Club in 2007.
