Prior to MSU: Played in 24 games at Virginia in his two seasons, starting 22 of them at center back ... As a sophomore, he missed all but eight games with a hamstring injury, but returned to help lead the Cavaliers to the NCAA College Cup semifinals and a final national ranking of No. 3 ... Assisted on the game-winning goal in Virginia's 2-1 victory over Connecticut in the quarterfinals ... Freshman season, Carroll started all 16 games he played, finishing second on the team in points (10), goals (4) and game-winning goals (2) ...
