EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's soccer senior midfielder John Kaczmarek (Plymouth, Mich.) tallied two assists as the Spartans defeated Loyola, 2-1, in an exhibition contest in Ft. Wayne, Ind., on Sunday afternoon. MSU struck first in the first half when freshman forward Doug DeMartin (Mason, Mich.) took a cross from Kaczmarek and fired it into the goal. Midway through the second half, senior midfielder Ryan McMahen (Munster, Ind.) found the back of the net, with Kaczmarek assisting on the goal. Loyola scored its lone goal in the final 15 minutes.

The Spartans open the 2005 regular season with the MSU/Radisson Fall Classic Sept. 4-5. On Sunday, MSU hosts UMass at 11 a.m., followed by Michigan vs. Denver at 1:30 p.m. The following day, the Spartans play Denver at Noon, followed by Michigan vs. UMass at 2:30 p.m.
