Michigan State vs. Indiana
Big Ten Championship Final
November 16, 2008
MSU Head Coach Joe Baum
On winning is second-career conference tournament title...
It's overwhelming. Sometimes, I still feel like I'm in a dream. We had a fine season and we were just so honored to win the regular-season championship, and know to put this on top of that is just like a dream come true.
On Doug DeMartin's goal...
Doug is a great player and Louis (Stephens) dropped him a nice ball and he had an opening and I was sure Doug would burry it and he did.
MSU Senior Defender Dave Hertel
On winning the title...
It's something that looked out of reach when we started the season but we dug in and it feels amazing.
On the keys to MSU's undefeated streak...
It's just been teamwork as a whole. We've been sticking together and fighting it out as a whole. It's a testament to this team today.
On rebounding from a 1-3 start...
It's been hard work. The coaches have pulled us through it. They have given us good game plans and we went in there and tried to execute them as best we could.
MSU Senior Forward Doug DeMartin
His feelings on winning both Big Ten titles this year...
It feels pretty good, especially after the start we had. We got the regular season title and coming in here, we knew we had a good opportunity to get another one, and we were able to do it.
On beating Indiana twice this season...
It feels good. Hopefully, that is just a start for this program. They are a great team and will have a good run in the tournament. It gives us confidence, but we have a long way to go, too.
On Indiana's first half scoring chances...
They came out firing and they had us a little pinned in. We hung on and our defenders have been great forever, they haven't given up a goal in so long. I have confidence in them and we just knew we had to hang on and that we would get our chances and have to finish.
