MSU and Western Michigan Battle to 0-0 Deadlock

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan State men's soccer team closed out the home portion of the 1997 schedule by battling to a 0-0 overtime tie against Western Michigan this afternoon. The game was played at Old College Field on the MSU campus.

Michigan State finished the game with a 14-8 advantage in shot attempts, 11-5 over the course of the second half and overtime, while the Broncos finished the match with seven corner kicks compared to MSU's four.

MSU redshirt freshman goalkeeper T.J. Lieckfelt (Sterling Heights) registered three saves while his counterpart, sophomore Eric Pogue (Troy) recorded six stops.

The Spartans' record now stands at 5-7-4 while Western Michigan sports a 5-7-3 ledger. The next action for the MSU men's team will be this Sunday (Nov. 2) at Wisconsin.
