Michigan State Men's Soccer Topped by UNLV

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan State men's soccer squad suffered its fourth straight loss this afternoon as host University of Nevada-Las Vegas defeated the Spartans by a 4-2 margin at the UNLV Snickers/Fila Rebel Classic.

UNLV jumped out on top at the 20:59 mark when Kiko Medina scored on a penalty kick. MSU battled back to tie the with just 40 seconds remaining in the first half when freshman Rick Smith recorded his second goal of the year.

The Runnin' Rebels blew the game wide open with three straight goals within an 11:30 span late in the second half, the last goal coming at 74:33, giving UNLV a 4-1 cushion. MSU junior forward Chris Slosar closed out the scoring with his third tally of the campaign at 77:25.

The loss leaves MSU's record at 2-4-1. The Spartans' next action will take place next Sunday (Sept. 28) when they battle No. 1-ranked Indiana at Bloomington.
