Indiana Defeats Michigan State in Men's Soccer
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Indiana University's Dema Kovalenko scored a pair of goals in helping the No. 1-ranked Hoosiers to a 3-0 win over Michigan State this afternoon in men's soccer. The game was played at Bloomington, Indiana.
IU's Chris Klein opened the game's scoring at 9:36 while Kovalenko notched his first marker at 22:37, giving the Hoosiers a 2-0 advantage at halftime. Kovalenko's second tally of the game came at 52:47 and closed out the contest's scoring.
IU recorded a 23-3 advantage in shots attempted and had 18 corner kicks to the Spartans' one. Redshirt freshman T.J. Lieckfelt recorded six saves for MSU which fell to 2-5-2, 1-1 in the Big Ten. Indiana raised its record to 10-0.
Michigan State's next action is this Wednesday (Oct. 1) at Illinois-Chicago.
