EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State University men's soccer standout, John Minagawa-Webster, attended the 2005 adidas Major League Soccer Player Combine. The combine is in its second year, and was held at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. on Jan. 8-11.
The field of players was chosen by a select panel of Division I college coaches and MLS coaches. Minagawa-Webster was one of 66 college seniors who were chosen to participate in the camp. The field of 66 includes seven Big Ten players (Indiana (2), Michigan (2), Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin). MLS general managers and members of all 12 coaching staffs were in attendance to scout talent.
Last year a total of 42 players who participated in the Player Combine were eventually selected in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft, in which a total of 60 players were drafted. The 2005 MLS SuperDraft will be held in Baltimore, Md. on Friday (Jan. 14).
