EAST LANSING, Mich. -- - Michigan State head coach Damon Rensing has announced that three more athletes - junior Tyler White (Anchorage, Ky.) and freshmen Nick DiRienzo (Hockessin, Del.) and Asa Miller (Louisville, Ky) will join the Spartan men's soccer team this fall. Camp for the MSU men's squad will open on Wednesday, Aug. 10.
Rensing earlier announced the addition of five incoming freshmen for the fall of 2011, and the addition of these three players pushes the list of newcomers to eight. The Spartans, who advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 in 2010, lost eight seniors from that team, including two selections (Colin Givens and Spencer Thompson) in the MLS Superdraft and Supplemental Drafts, respectively. This fall, Rensing's roster will feature nine seniors, which includes the team's top three scorers from a year ago (Domenic Barone (Grand Rapids, Mich), Brent Rosendall (Grand Rapids, Mich.), and Cyrus Saydee (Lansing, Mich.).
DiRienzo, Miller, and White join Fatai Alashe (Fr., Southfield Mich. / Northville), Quinn McAnaney (Northbrook, Ill. / Glenbrook North), Adam Montague (Sylvania Ohio / St. John's Jesuit), Kyle Rutz (Commerce, Mich./Walled Lake Northern), and Blake Skamiera (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lake Orion) as newcomers to the MSU roster this fall.
