Spartans Earn Spots on Preseason Soccer Rankings
Cope, Montague ranked among top-50 of the nation's best.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior defender Kevin Cope and junior forward Adam Montague represent the Spartan men’s soccer team on the national scene as both are ranked in the top-50 of the TopDrawerSoccer.com preseason player rankings.
Cope, who was also named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Preseason Best XI second team, is ranked No. 22 of the top-100 Division I players. He is also ranked No. 17 in the Big Ten after he earned Second Team All-Big Ten and Great Lakes Region honors in 2012. Last season, Cope played in a career-high 23 games after missing the previous season with injury, and had one assist.
Montague earned third team Great Lakes Region honors, and was a First Team All-Big Ten selection in 2012. He posted a team-best eight goals and 22 points on the season, which included scoring in each of the three Big Ten Tournament games. Ranked sixth in the conference heading into the 2013 season, Montague was the second-leading scorer in the Big Ten overall, (0.96 ppg) and in Big Ten Conference games (2-3-7, 1.17 gpg).

The Spartans also received recognition as the team was ranked No. 25 in the College Soccer News 2013 Preseason Top-30 Poll.
