East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team will kick off its 2007 campaign with a home exhibition contest versus University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) on Wed., August 22 at Old College Field. The 4 p.m. contest is the first of two preseason exhibitions for the Spartans, who were 10-7-2 a year ago.

MSU returns eight starters and 13 letterwinners, including leading scorer Kenzo Webster, from last year's squad. UIC, the 2006 regular season champion in the Horizon League, qualified for the NCAA Tournament last year and returns 16 letterwinners. The team has received votes in the national NCSAA/adidas coaches poll.

MSU will play an exhibition contest versus Akron on Friday, Aug. 31 in Fort Wayne, Ind., before opening the regular season at home in the MSU/Radisson Soccer Classic. The Spartans' first regular season opener will come against Oregon State on Friday, Aug. 31 at 2:30 p.m.
