Aug. 21, 2010
EAST LANSING, Mich. - The men's soccer team gets its first look at external competition on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Bradley at the Pat Patterson Soccer Complex in Kentwood, Michigan. The soccer complex is located behind Crestwood Middle School; GPS users can use the following address: 2674 44th Street SE, Kentwood, MI 49512.
Michigan State is beginning its season with a pair of exhibition games- Saturday's tilt against Bradley kicks off the action for the Spartans. Next weekend, MSU and the other six Big Ten teams are taking part in the "Soccerpalooza" National Soccer Festival in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Next Saturday, the preseason Big Ten poll will be released, as will the conference's "Players to Watch". Then on Sunday, MSU will take on Duke in an exhibition game, giving MSU a rematch of sorts - the teams met in last year's NCAA Tournament, where the Blue Devils eliminated the Spartans with a 2-1 victory in the second round.
Michigan State returns 10 starters from last year's squad, which includes all its top scorers, a versatile and experienced midfield unit, and a staunch defensive corps that features two-time All-Big Ten First Team selection Avery Steinlage.
