The Michigan State men's soccer team will kick off the 2008 season by hosting the ninth-annual MSU/Radisson Fall Classic this weekend at DeMartin Stadium at Old College Field. In addition to MSU, this year's field includes St. Francis (Pa.), Vermont and Western Michigan. Action gets underway Friday (Aug. 29) afternoon with Western Michigan taking on Vermont at 2:30 p.m. and St. Francis (Pa.) playing MSU at 5 p.m. On Sunday (Aug. 31), Western Michigan and St. Francis (PA) kick off at 11 a.m. while Vermont and MSU face off at 1:30 p.m.
This weekend marks the opening of MSU's new soccer complex, DeMartin Stadium at Old College Field. The stadium includes permanent seating for 1,900 and was made possible with a $750,000 gift from Doug and Valerie DeMartin of Summitt, N.J.
The Spartans are coming off an 11-6-4 record in 2007 and a second NCAA Tournament appearance in the last four years.
