EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team (2-1-4) received its first Big Ten award of the 2005 season Monday, when goalie Jason Tillman (Brighton, MI.) was chosen as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. The junior goalkeeper played all 110 minutes against No. 1 Indiana, recording eight saves, which allowed MSU to tie the defending national champions in its Big Ten season opener.

Tillman has started in all seven of MSU's games, allowing only seven goals this season. He gives up less then a goal a game (0.89) and stops more than 75% of the shots he faces (.774).

MSU will look to add a win against Bowling Green this Thursday, Sept. 29. The Spartans will try to earn their first conference win against Northwestern over the weekend.
