EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Ryan McMahen (Sr., Rochester, Mich.) was named Big Ten Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today (Oct. 20). This is the first time in McMahen's career he has received the Big Ten honor.
The sophomore forward recorded one goal and three assists in a 4-3 victory over Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 19 at Old College Field in East Lansing, Mich. McMahen has currently started 13 games, scored six goals and recorded six assists for 18 points this season.
McMahan did not play due to injury in the 2002 season, while in 2001 he tied for eighth in the Big Ten with six goals, ranked eighth in the Big Ten with 17 points, tied for first among Big Ten freshmen with six goals and ranked second with 17 points. He also was third on the team with six goals and tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals.
MSU will play host to Western Michigan on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Old College Field at 3 p.m.
