EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team opens the 2003 Big Ten Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 13 against Penn State at 11 a.m. in Bloomington, Ind. The Spartans (11-4-2, 3-1-2 Big Ten) enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed, while the Nittany Lions (7-10-0, 1-5-0 Big Ten) are the No. 6 seed. Earlier this season, MSU defeated PSU, 4-3, at Old College Field.

The winner of the Michigan State-Penn State game will face the winner of Michigan-Northwestern in Friday's semifinal matchup at 7:30 p.m. The other half of the bracket features an Ohio State-Wisconsin Thursday meeting for the right to play top-seeded Indiana on Friday. The Big Ten Tournament Final will be played on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. and will be televised by CSTV.

Michigan State enters the tournament having won its last three first round games over the last three seasons. In 2001, the Spartans advanced to the finals, before falling to Indiana. MSU enters this year's tournament having won seven of its last nine games.
