April 21, 1997 Seedings Announced for Big Ten Men's Tennis ChampionshipEAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State is the No. 9 seed in the 1997 Big Ten Men's Tennis Championship and will face No. 10 Ohio State in the first round of the tournament Thursday at 9 a.m. at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Facility. Michigan State is hosting the tournament, which features all 11 Big Ten teams. Northwestern is the top seed after posting a 10-0 Big Ten record during the regular season.
The winner of the Michigan State-Ohio State match faces the winner of No. 8 Wisconsin vs. No. 11 Iowa for the right to face No. 1 Northwestern Sunday. The matches will run from Thursday to Sunday and begin at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day. The championship match is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. In inclement weather, matches will move to the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
