Brian Etzkin is in his second year as assistant coach at Michigan State. Etzkin came to MSU after serving as an assistant coach for both men and womens tennis at Western Illinois University for two seasons from 1998-2000. At Western Illinois, both tennis teams finished in the top half of the conference. In 2000, the women took second in the Mid-Conference Championship, while the men took third. At Western Illinois, Etzkin also was the director of a fundraising event benefitting the Special Olympics where he had to recruit and manage 180 volunteers.
At Michigan State, Etzkin helps with all aspects of coaching, including recruiting. Along with his assistant coaching duties, Etzkin is also an Assistant Tennis Pro at the Indoor Tennis Facility at MSU, and is the Head Tennis Pro at Walnut Hills Country Club.
Etzkin attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he earned four tennis letters. A two-time Academic All-Conference (MVC) and GTE Academic All-American, Etzkin captained the Salukis for three years. He received a bachelor of arts in psychology in 1998 from SIU and was awarded a master?s degree in sport management from WIU in 2000.
