2013-14 Meet the Spartans: Gijs Linders

Compiled a 16-18 overall mark in singles and a 13-16 overall record in doubles.

Spring 2015:
Named First-Team All-Big Ten and winner of the Sportsmanship Award ... Tallied an 11-15 record in singles, including a 5-6 mark in Big Ten play, and a 9-12 record in doubles, including a 3-5 mark in Big Ten play ... His five singles wins in conference play tied for the most on the team ... Played at the No. 1 position in singles for every match except two ... Faced 13 members of the ITA top 125, including five of the top 25 and 12 of the top 100 ... Climbed to No. 76 in the ITA Singles Rankings ... Defeated No. 125 Matt Hagan of Iowa ... Teamed with Brett Forman in doubles to start the Spring, playing mostly at the No. 1 or No. 2 position, finishing 7-11 together including a win over Georgia's No. 44 Paul Oosterbaan and Ben Wagland ... Paired with Mac Roy to end the season, posting a 3-4 record.

Fall 2014:
Earned a 5-3 mark in singles and a 4-4 record in doubles ... Defeated Illinois' No. 65 Tim Kopinski in the ITA Midwest Regionals.

Compiled a 12-15 overall singles record and a 17-14 overall doubles record.

Spring 2014:
Tallied an 11-11 singles record ... Posted a 4-6 conference record ... Finished 4-5 when playing on court five ... Earned six wins over opponents on a ranked team ... Defeated McCloskey of No. 34 Tulsa, 6-4, 6-3 ... Took down Steinroeder of No. 33 Harvard, 7-6, 6-4 ... Defeated Trkulja of No. 27 Penn State, 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-3 ... Defeated Guignon of No. 11 Illinois, 6-7(2), 6-4, 1-0(10-8).

Tallied a 10-11 doubles record ... Posted a 5-4 Big Ten record ... Finished 9-7 when playing on court two ... Played all of his spring matches with junior Harry Jadun ... Earned six wins over opponents on a ranked team ... Defeated Espejo/De Klerk of No. 34 Tulsa, 8-7(5) ... Beat Treyz/Herrmann of No. 58 Nebraska, 8-6 ... Defeated Shropshire/Zieba of No. 37 Northwestern, 8-2 ... Took down Lalic/Tasic of No. 59 Indiana, 8-4.

Fall 2013:
Compiled a 1-4 singles and a 7-3 doubles record in fall action ... teamed with Aaron Pfister at the ITA All-American Championships to advance to the second round in the doubles qualifying draw ... played with Pfister to advance to the round of 16 at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships ... teamed with Harry Jadun to tally four wins at the Big Ten Indoors and finish runner-up after falling 8-7 (2) in the championship match to Nebraska's Hermann and Treyz ... lost in the first round of the singles pre-qualifying bracket at the ITA All-American Championships ... lost in the first round of the singles main draw at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.

Earned a team high 22 total victories in singles play, posting an 18-9 record in dual matches and an 8-2 record in Big Ten competition ... Won an additional 12 matches in doubles play, with a 12-12 record with teammate Harry Jadun ... Helping the Spartans make it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history competing in the No. 5 singles taking on Carlos Baustista of Tulsa falling 7-5, 6-2 ... An Academic All-Big Ten Honoree...

Earned 22 singles victories in his Spartan debut ... Won the most singles matches during the dual season with an impressive 17-8 record ... Played courts three through six ... Spent majority of time on court six with ten victories ... Finished the last ten matches of the season with an impressive 8-2 record , thanks to a five-match win streak ... Topped Kentucky's Jha, 6-2, 6-1 ... Defeated Michigan's Buzzi 6-4, 6-1 during fall tournament play ... Earned 18 victories in doubles action, 12 of them during the dual spring season.

Attended Dalton Voorburg High School ... Earned a career-high International Tennis Federation combined junior ranking of 200 ... Has posted two wins on the 2011 Futures Tour ... Advanced to the semifinals of the ITF 4 Indoor Almere in 2010 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Marlon Brand ... Finished second at the 2009 Danish Junior Cup, reaching the finals following a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Valentin Piret ... Placed third at the ITF Indoor McDonalds Flevoland Junior Championships after failing to reach the quarterfinals the previous three years ... Partnered with Alban Meuffels to reach the semifinals at the V ITF Junior Ribarroja Del Turia in 2010 in the doubles draw ... Reached the finals of the of the doubles draw at the Tournoi International de Clermont-Ferrand in 2009 with partner Colin Van Beem ... With Van Beem, won the ITF Mera Cup in 2009 with a 6-7 (11), 7-5 (10-7) win over Maksim Malyshev and Yevhen Zakharov ... Also won the ITF Junior Outdoor Cup in Copenhagen in 2009 with Van Beem, defeating Dennis Kos and Stefan Scheenstra in the finals, 6-3, 6-4 ... Finished in the top 10-percent of his high school class.
