Men's Tennis Defeated by Northwestern
April 19, 1998 EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Wildcat men's tennis team, ranked No. 24 nationally, defeated the Michigan State Spartans on Sunday, 6-1. NU captured the top four singles matches and all three doubles contests en route to the victory, improving their record to 13-4, 6-2 Big Ten. Junior Marc Silva and seniors Alex Witt and Ry Tarpley won the top three singles matches for NU. Silva, playing in the No. 1 spot, defeated Trey Eubanks 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2, Witt went three sets before finishing Ivica Primorac 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, and Tarpley beat Chris Struck 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Witt and Doug Bohaboy defeated Struck and Ken Kigongo in the No. 1 doubles match, 8-6. Northwestern plays at Penn State on Thur., April 24, before returning home to face Wisconsin on Sat., April 26.
