EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Big Ten Conference announced Wednesday that sophomore Spartan Aaron Pfister has earned the Big Ten Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor, after being crowned the conference's indoor champion on Monday in Iowa City, Iowa.

The sophomore from Grand Blanc, Mich., went undefeated, posting a perfect 6-0 record on his way to winning the individual title by defeating Stephen Hoh of Illinois 6-4, 6-2 in the finals. Pfister topped Jonas Dierckx (6-2, 6-0) of Iowa, and Will Kendall (6-1, 6-2) of Indiana in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, respectively. He knocked off Iowa's Chase Tomlins (6-0, 6-0), Indiana's Dimitrije Tasic (7-5, 6-2) and Michigan's Alex Petrone (6-4, 6-4) in the first three rounds.

In doubles play, Pfister paired with senior Austin Brooks to advance to the final round of the Flight A doubles draw.

This is Pfister's first weekly award of his career, and the first by any Spartan since Nick Rinks in 2008.

Pfister and the rest of his Spartan teammates will continue their season with dual match play beginning in January.
