EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team completed the second day of action at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, with junior Drew Lied advancing to the quarterfinal round in singles play.
After a first round bye, Lied defeated Elliot Yee of Indiana 2-6, 7-5, 6-0 and took down Fedor Baev of Northwestern 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Lied is set to face Oskar Wikberg of Wisconsin tomorrow at 9 a.m.
In doubles play, Lied and fellow junior Aaron Pfister fell in the semifinal match to Michael Zhu and Barrett Franks of Michigan, 8-2.
Despite losses in the second round, both Pfister and sophomore Gijs Linders earned two victories in the back draw and are set to face each other in the semifinal match. Also earning victories in the back draw were senior Chirstian Roehmer, freshman Tyler Richmond and senior Will Davis.
