MSU Ends Competition at All-American Championships

AUSTIN, Tex.-- After a tough week of singles competition, the Michigan State men's tennis team faced doubles competition at the Reebok/ITA All-American Championships in Austin, Texas, over the weekend. The Spartan doubles team consisting of juniors Chris Struck and Trey Eubanks qualified for the main draw after the pre-qualifying and qualifying rounds.

Hoping to salvage a disappointing week of singles team competition, Eubanks and Struck were defeated by David McNamara and Julius Roberts of Middle Tennessee State University, 7-5, 6-4. McNamara and Roberts went on to take the doubles championship for the entire tournament.

The duo then entered the doubles competition consolation draw, but once again came up short to an eventual finalist. This time Shane Stone and Efe Ustundag from Rice University beat Eubanks and Struck, 7-6(6), 7-5.

The Spartan men's tennis team faces their next competition at the Rolex Regionals in Champaign, Ill., from October 31 to November 3.
