Weekend Preview: This weekend the Michigan State men's tennis team will face not one, but two Mid-American Conference opponents on Saturday, Feb. 21. The Spartans will battle Bowling Green at 10 a.m. and Western Michigan at 6 p.m. When the squads dual this weekend, Michigan State hopes to make it eight consecutive wins over Western Michigan and 11 straight wins over Bowling Green. Western's last victory over Michigan State came in a 5-4 win in 1989. Last season, the Spartans defeated the Broncos 6-1 and the Falcons 7-0.
Last Week's Results: The Spartans traveled South last weekend for a Valentine's Day date with Miami (Ohio). Michigan State had revenge on its mind because of last season's 4-3 loss at the hands of the Red Hawks in East Lansing. This season, the Spartans were able to play the part of the home wrecker by handing Miami a 6-1 defeat in Oxford, Ohio.
Doubles Dominance: For the first time this season, Michigan State was able to sweep all three doubles matches and earn the doubles point. The Spartan teams that were triumphant were: sophomore Ken Kigongo and junior Chris Struck in the No. 1 match, sophomores Ivica Primorac and Francisco Trinidad at the No. 2 spot, and senior Ben Hetzler and junior Trey Eubanks in the No. 3 position. This also marked the second time this season that the Spartans took the doubles point with the other coming in the Cincinnati match which MSU won 5-2.
