EAST LANSING, Mich. - Juniors Drew Lied and Aaron Pfister both appeared in the pre-season Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings that were released by the ITA. Pfister debuted at No. 66 in the singles rankings, while Lied and Pfister begin the season ranked No. 52 in doubles.

"It's great to be recognized as one of the top singles players and doubles team in the country," head coach Gene Orlando said. "Aaron and Drew both had great sophomore seasons and it is a testament to all their hard work. A pre-season ranking is just a beginning as they both have aspirations of qualifying for the NCAA's and moving up in the rankings."

Pfister went 27-7 last season, was 7-5 in the Big Ten and was the team MVP the past two seasons, and posted a team high 30 victories in 2010-11.

Lied and Pfister were paired on court one in doubles action last season, earning ten victories during the season.

The Spartans begin their fall tournament season on September 29th at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., and will open their home schedule on Oct. 18, when they host the ITA Midwest Regionals.
