EAST LANSING, Mich. -
Michigan State men’s tennis will kickoff its fall schedule this week by traveling to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the 2017 Milwaukee Tennis Classic. The event runs from Thursday, Sept. 21 to Sunday, Sept. 24. Seniors Michael Dube, Brett Forman and Jasper Koenen will represent the Spartans at the event.
“All three are seniors and they’ve earned the right to get there based on what they’ve accomplished over their careers,” head coach Gene Orlando said. “We’re invited and it’s another great opportunity for them to play quality players. They’ll start the season off for us.”
Dube and Koenen will begin play on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 8 a.m. in the men’s qualifier matches for the main draw, held at the Western Racquet Club in Elm Grove, Wisconsin. Forman will start off on Friday, Sept. 22 in the main draw at 8 a.m. The final matches will take place on Sunday, Sept. 24 at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
“I expect to see them continue to improve. Obviously, I want them to play confident,” Orlando said. “Hopefully they’ll get some wins. At the end of the day, wins are important but playing the game and getting the game ready for the upcoming season is, too.”
Following the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, MSU will continue its fall schedule at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from Sept. 30-Oct. 8.
