Men's Tennis Adds Two for 2014 Class
Koenen, Dube to join Spartans.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Jasper Koenen and Michael Dube both have signed their National Letter of Intent to join the Michigan State men's tennis program and head coach Gene Orlando beginning in the 2014-2015 season. Below is a look at the two student-athletes:
Jasper Koenen - St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East
Prior to MSU: Will graduate from St. Charles East High School as a four-year letterwinner ... Competed under head coach Robert Livermore ... Competed with Score Tennis and Fitness club and private coach Barry King ... Has compiled an 86-13 career singles record in high school matches through three seasons ... Three-time sectional champion ... Three-time all-conference selection ... Two-time all-state selection ... Listed as a four-star recruit on tennisrecruiting.net ... Ranked 91st nationally and fifth in the state of Illinois by tennisrecruiting.net ... Three-time member of the Northern Illinois Davis Cup Team ... Five-time Midwest Representative at the Zone Team Championships ... National Open doubles champion in the boys' 18 division ... Midwest Closed doubles champion in the boys' 16 division ... Midwest Winter Championships doubles champion in the boys' 18 division.
Personal: Born May 6, 1996, to Henk-Jen and Irene Koenen in Antwerp, Belgium ... Sister Annemijn Koenen played tennis for Arkansas and Missouri ... "Jasper is a great catch for our program in the tennis hotbed of Chicago," Orlando said. "He will bring a great spirit, energy and skill to the team. He's been a solid player in the Midwest and has continued to improve each year. There is no doubt he will flourish in our program."
Michael Dube - Livonia, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central
Prior to MSU: Will graduate from Detroit Catholic Central High School as a four-year letterwinner competing under head coach Joe Stafford ... Competes under private coach Grant Asher ... Division 1 singles state champion freshman year competing in the No. 2 spot ... Two-time Division 1 singles state semifinalist competing in the No. 1 position ... Four-time all-state, all-region and all-Catholic selection ... Finalist for Michigan Mr. Tennis award ... Listed as a four-star recruit on tennisrecruiting.net ... Ranked 102nd nationally and fourth in the state of Michigan by tennisrecruiting.net ... Regional Segment Tournament singles champion competing in the boys' 18 division.
Personal: Born Feb. 2, 1996, to Dan and Seny Dube in Livonia, Mich. ... Brother Joseph Dube plays tennis for Marist College and is currently a junior ... Four-year member of Gabriel Richard Club ... "We are excited to have Michael and another great player from southeast Michigan," Orlando said.
