One of the top pole vaulters in school history, Gebauer is a three-time Big Ten Champion (2005-06 indoor; 2004 outdoor) and 2006 indoor All-American in the pole vault. 2006 (Indoor): Earned All-America honors with his fourth-place finish in the pole vault (17-10 1/2) at the NCAA Indoor Championships...repeated as Big Ten champion in the pole vault with an NCAA automatic qualifying leap of 18-0 1/2, the second highest jump in school history...that leap set a new Iowa Fieldhouse record...also placed first at the Notre Dame Opener with a jump of 17-0 3/4...placed second at the Kangaroo Invitational and third at the Meyo Invitational. 2005 (Outdoor): Did not compete. 2005 (Indoor): Opened season capturing first-place in the pole vault at the Kentucky Invitational (17-0 3/4)...finished third at the 2005 pole vault summit, clearing 17-2 3/4...placed second at the Notre Dame Invitational (16-2 3/4)...vaulted 17-2 3/4 at the Iowa State Classic to finish third overall...captured a first-place finish in the pole vault at the Jack Skoog Invitational, clearing 17-3...won the Big Ten Indoor Championship with a vault of 17-0 3/4...racked up a fourth-place finish, posting a vault of 16-11 1/2, at the Alex Wilson Invitational. 2004 (Outdoor): Opened season with a fourth-place finish at the Stanford Open, vaulting 15-9...captured pole vault title at the Spartan Invitational, with a leap of 16-4-3/4...placed third at the Mt. SAC Relays, vaulting 16-0 3/4...placed sixth in the pole vault at the Drake Relays clearing 17-0 3/4...captured first-place finish at the Jesse Owens Classic with a leap of 16-8 3/4...won the pole vault competition at the Len Paddock Invitational, clearing a height of 16-4 3/4...captured the Big Ten Championship with a jump of 17-0 3/4...cleared 16-11 to claim sixth-place at the NCAA Regional Championships. 2004 (Indoor): Redshirted. 2003 (Outdoor): Season-best 16-3 in the pole vault gave him the title at the Simpson Twilight Open...tied for third at Sea Ray Relays (16-0 3/4) ...placed 15th at the NCAA Regionals (16-1 1/4)...16th at the Drake Relays (16-0 3/4)...also competed in javelin at the Bronco Open, placing 12th (120-9). 2003 (Indoor): Placed first at the Chippewa Open in the pole vault (16-0 3/4)...finished second in his division at the Pole Vault Summit (15-7)...tied for first at the Red Simmons Invitational in the pole vault (16-0)...placed first at Notre Dame in the pole vault (15-9)...placed first at the Meyo Invitational in the pole vault with a season-best 16-6 3/4...finished third at the EMU Classic in the pole vault (16-0)...placed fifth at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in the pole vault 16-0 3/4...tied for third at the Alex Wilson Invitational in the pole vault 16-4 3/4. High School: Four-time letterwinner in track and field...elected team captain...all-state all four years of high school in the pole vault...three-time state champion...holds the indoor state record..three-time All-American...national champion...voted Most Outstanding Male Field Event Performer for 2001 and 2002...personal best was 16-5...also a member of the football team as a quarterback (2000-2002)...served as captain of the football team.
