MSU Wrestling Had Solid Outing At University Nationals

Spartans had 18 wrestlers in action in final team action of freestyle season

2017-18 (Redshirt Sophomore) 3-5 Overall, 0-1 Duals, 3-4 Tournaments: Posted a technical fall and fall at the MSU Open ... Started first dual of the season against No. 17 Central Michigan ... Competed at the Cliff Keen Invite, ending with a medical forfeit.

2016-17 (Redshirt Freshman) 21-16 Overall, 7-9 Duals, 14-7 Tournaments:
Ranked fourth on team in wins (21), while leading team in major decisions (6), fourth in both dual wins (7) and dual points (25), along with ranking tied for fifth in technical falls (2) ... added four falls and two tech. falls ... was fourth at the MSU Open and fifth at the Reno Tournament of Champions ... had five-match win streak as part of opening season winning 10 of 14 matches ... had streak of nine wins in 11 matches later in the year ... was 5-2 at Reno Tournament of Champions finishing fifth, capping tournament with quick pin of the season, pinning Fred Green of Boise State at 0:32 in the fifth-place bout ... all five wins at Reno were extra-point victories, with three major decisions and two falls ... was 3-2 at the MSU Open with two of the three wins being extra-point victories, with a fall and major decision.

2015-16 (Redshirt) 13-7 Overall, 0-0 Duals, 13-7 Open Tournaments: Tallied two tech. falls and one major decision ... was second at the Alma Open, fourth at the EMU Open and seventh of the freshman/sophomore division of the MSU Open ... started season with three-straight wins at the EMU Open, on the way to finishing fourth ... was 5-2 at the MSU Open on the way to finishing seventh ... ended season with stretch of nine wins in 12 matches, halted with a loss in the finals of the Alma Open.

PREP: Two-time state champion (2014, 2015) and four-time state qualifier ... collected a 194-18 career record in high school ... ranked one of the top 150 recruits in the country by Associated Wrestling Press ... ranked No. 15 nationally in his weight class (138 pounds) by Associated Wrestling Press and No. 18 by InterMat ... ranked second in the state of Michigan at 140 pounds by ... claimed his second straight state title as a senior in 2015 by winning the 140-pound championship in Division 2 with a 50-1 record ... beat Austin Melton of DeWitt, 7-5, in the 140-pound championship match ... won the 2014 MHSAA Division 2 state title at 130 pounds as junior with a 52-1 record ... defeated Jaedin Sklapsky of Eaton Rapids in the state championship match, 8-7 ... placed second at the 2014 Michigan Grappler Fall Classic ... competed at the Super 32s in the fall of 2014 in North Carolina ... took fifth at the 2013 MHSAA Division 1 state championships as a sophomore at 119 pounds while wrestling for Port Huron Northern High School; finished the season with a 48-5 record ... had a 44-11 record as a freshman and was a 2012 Division 1 state qualifier at 103 pounds.
