MSU Wrestling Had Solid Outing At University Nationals

Spartans had 18 wrestlers in action in final team action of freestyle season

2017-18 (Redshirt Freshman) 20-18 Overall, 8-9 Duals, 12-9 Tournaments: Team leader in technical falls with four and major decisions with six ... Second on the team in dual wins with eight and dual points with 35 ... One of four Spartans to win 20 matches ... Placed sixth at the MSU Open, finishing 3-3, including a fall at 2:19 in the opening round ... Claimed second place at the EMU Open, going 4-1 with two major decisions ... Started first collegiate dual against No. 17 Central Michigan ... Went 3-2 at the Cliff Keen Invite, picking up a major decision and a pin ... Went on a four-match win streak in duals, collecting bonus points in all four with three major decisions and a technical fall ... Won first Big Ten dual match of his career by knocking off No. 12 Jake Short of Minnesota, 7-6 ... Helped the Spartans to an 18-15 win over Indiana with a technical fall over Austin Holmes ... Finished the regular season 2-0 in duals with technical falls against Clarion and Eastern Michigan ... Made first appearance at the Big Ten Championships, going 2-3.

2016-17 (Redshirt) 11-8 Overall (8-6 at 149, 3-2 at 157), 0-0 Duals, 11-8 Open Tournaments:
Logged four falls, two tech. falls and two major decisions ... won the Alma Open and was sixth at the EMU Open ... went 3-0 in winning the Alma Open with all three wins being bonus points victories with a fall, major decision and tech. fall ... was 3-2 at the EMU Open ... posted a 2-2 mark at the MSU Open with both wins coming on falls, including his quickest pin of the season at 1:13 over Max Fisher of Northern Illinois.

PREP: Was a state champion as part of a two-time All-State IHSA 2A honoree at Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago ... accumulated a 140-24 record during his four-year career ... was a two-time team captain ... was a three-time IHSA Regional champion and a three-time Chicago Catholic League champion.

PERSONAL: Son of Kim and Shane Tucker ... Undecided on a major.
