Spartan Wrestling Begins 2015-16 Season at Eastern Michigan Duals

MSU will tangle with Utah Valley, Ohio and Clarion on Saturday in Ypsilanti.

2016-17 (Redshirt Sophomore) 11-15 Overall, 6-7 Duals, 5-7 Tournaments: Made 13 starts ... logged two falls and two major decisions ... qualified for the Big Ten Championships for the second-straight season ... lone fall of the season was pinning Chandler Updike of Indiana Tech in a 1:07 pin ... tallied a 2-2 ledger at the Reno Tournament of Champions, registering a fall over Adam Rateb of Oregon State and a 12-3 major decision over Dom Ducharme of Cal State Bakersfield ... split last 16 bouts, including stretch of facing ranked opponents in three out of four bouts.

2015-16 (Redshirt Freshman) 12-12 Overall, 6-7 Duals, 6-5 Tournaments: Was second in the freshman/sophomore division of the MSU Open and sixth at the Cleveland State Open ... was 5-2 at the MSU Open, tallying one shutout and a 6-4 sudden victory ... went 3-1 at Cleveland State Open ... posted first B1G victory with a 4-2 decision over Matt Irick of Indiana.

2014-15 (Freshman) 3-1 Overall, 0-0 Duals, 3-1 Open Tournaments: Posted four wins and placed fifth at the MSU Open (freshman-sophomore division) ... earned two major decision victories and a pin (1:03) over his opponents at the MSU Open.

PREP: Back-to-back MHSAA Division 1 state champion at 189 pounds ... finished his senior season with a 44-3 record ... won his second straight state championship at 189 pounds with a fall in 5:56 over Derek Hillman of Brownstown Woodhaven ... also claimed the 2013 Michigan Division 1 state title at 189 pounds as a junior and finished the season with a 54-1 record ... became just the second wrestler from Rochester High School and the first since 1989 to win a state title ... tallied an escape point in the final minute to defeat Clarkston’s Chris Calvano, 4-3, in the state title match ... named to the 2013 MichiganGrappler.com Dream Team (third team) ... his only loss of the season was when he wrestled up a weight class against 215-pound state champion Brandon Sunday of Temperance Bedford ... won the Oakland Activities Association league title ... also won district, regional and Oakland Country titles ... helped lead Rochester to the Division 1 state semifinals in the team tournament ... placed seventh as a sophomore at the Michigan state championships at 189 pounds; finished the season with a 46-12 record ... also lettered in football.
