MSU Wrestlers Knock Off Central Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The No. 10 Michigan State wrestling team defeated No. 18 Central Michigan Sunday night, 27-11 at Rose Arena in Mt. Pleasant. MSU lost to Purdue, 21-12, earlier in the day. Michigan Stateis record now stands at 8-6, 3-4 in the Big Ten, while Central Michigan falls to 8-3, 2-1 in the MAC.
Senior captain David Morgan staked MSU to a 5-0 lead with a technical fall over Davon Gray at 118 pounds. Morgan, ranked No. 1 at 118, is now a perfect 33-0 on the season. Freshman Pat McNamara, ranked No. 6, and junior Issac Miller followed with decisions at 126 and 134, respectively, to push the Michigan State lead to 11-0. Central Michigan got a victory from No. 4 Casey Cunningham at 142 to cut the lead to 11-5, but would get no closer. Sophomore David Hughes (150), junior Greg DeGrand (158), and sophomore Will Hill (167) won the next three matches to increase the Spartan advantage to 21-5 and close door on the Chippewas. After a Central Michigan victory at 177, sophomore Nick Muzashvili (190) and freshman Matt Lamb (HWT) won the final two matches of the dual to make the final score 27-11.
The Spartans return to the mat February 13th, when they travel to Minneapolis to take on the No.3 Minnesota Golden Gophers.Running Score
