ST. LOUIS - In the second session of the NCAA Wrestling Championships Thursday night at Scottrade Center, 184-pounder Ian Hinton won his consolation match but Anthony Jones Jr. (157), Curran Jacobs (174) and Steve Andrus (HWT) lost in their third-round matches. Additionally, Dan Osterman (149) and David Cheza (165) were eliminated with loses in the consolation bracket.

At 184 pounds, Ian Hinton rebounded after a major decision loss in session one with a 4-3 decision over Steven Cressley of Clarion in the consolation bracket. Both wrestlers were tied 3-3 but Hinton had secured 1:15 of ride time in the match to take the decision. He will face Tony Dallago of Illinois in the consolation bracket tomorrow.

Following his first-round decision over Albert White of Oklahoma State at 157 pounds, Anthony Jones Jr. faced a familiar opponent in the round three championships, Dylan Alton of Penn State. Jones lost to Alton two previous times this season, each time by one point, and this time was no different.

Jones lost another heartbreaking decision to Alton, 2-1. Each wrestler scored an escape in the match but 1:14 of riding time in favor of Alton was the deciding point.

At 174 pounds, Curran Jacobs lost to No. 2 seed Chris Perry of Oklahoma State, 6-2, in round three. Jacobs fell behind 3-0 going into the third period and managed two escapes, but couldn't come away with a takedown when he needed it most.

Jacobs defeated Mike Dessino of Bloomsburg earlier in session one and will face Seth Creasy of Lock Haven tomorrow in the consolation bracket.

Steve Andrus followed up his first-round upset over No. 9 seed Levi Cooper of Arizona State with a tough loss to Andrew Delaney of The Citadel, 9-6, in session two. Both wrestlers got off to a fast start and the score was 5-3 in favor of Delaney in the first period, but Andrus couldn't score a takedown in the third. He will face Ben Apland of Michigan tomorrow in the consolation brackets.

Dan Osterman and David Cheza were eliminated at 149 and 165 pounds, respectively. Osterman lost by fall to Donnie Vinson of Binghamton in 2:55 and Cheza lost by fall to Corey Lear of Bucknell in 1:02.

Jacobs, Jones, Hinton and Andrus will compete in the consolation second round Friday morning in session three of the NCAA Championships, which begin at 11 a.m. ET. Live coverage of the event is available at and live results are available at
