MSU Wrestling Takes Down Eastern Michigan, 25-11

YPSILANTI, Mich. - Michigan State wrestling defeated Eastern Michigan, 25-11 in its first dual action of the season. The Spartans won seven of the 10 matches over the Eagles and both Nick Trimble and Jordan Wohlfert picked up their first dual wins of their collegiate careers.
The dual got started at 184 pounds and John Rizqallah defeated Khodor Hoballah, 4-0, giving the Spartans an early 3-0 lead in the dual. Eastern Michigan tied the dual 3-3 after Phillip Joseph defeated Nick McDiarmid, 4-1, at 197 pounds.
No. 13 Michael McClure picked up a 5-0 win over Chris Eggert of EMU in the heavyweight match-up, giving MSU a 6-3 lead.
The Spartans then dropped back-to-back major decisions at 125 pounds and 133 to fall behind 11-6 in the match. Brenan Lyon lost to Jared Germaine, 11-3, and Terry Turner fell to Vincent Pizzuto, 14-5.
Nick Trimble notched a fall at 141 pounds over Seth Schaner of Eastern Michigan in 6:01 to put MSU in front, 12-11 in his first collegiate dual.
Michigan State led 18 -11 after the 157-pound match.
David Cheza sealed the win for MSU with a 10-2 major decision over Jake Dorulla of Eastern Michigan at 165 pounds and MSU took a 22-11 lead into the final match of the night.
In his first career college dual, Jordan Wohlfert defeated Mike Curby of EMU, 3-2 and the Spartans won by a final score of 25-11.
Next up, Michigan State will host Edinboro in its first home dual of the season at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30.
