MSU Wrestling Holds Green and White Meet

Minkel Gets First Green and White Win

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State University wrestling team held itis annual Green and White Sunday at Jenison Fieldhouse, with Head Coach Tom Minkelis Green team downing assistant coach Dave Dean and his White squad, 22-18. The win is Minkelis first in the Green and White meet since coming to MSU six years ago.

Redshirt freshman Nick Curry (Saginaw) got the ball rolling for the Green team, pinning freshman Steve Delaney (Saginaw) in the first match of the afternoon. All-America 118-pounder David Morgan (Ferndale) followed with a 5-1 victory over freshman Chris Williams (Fowlerville), staking the Green team to a 9-0 lead. Freshman Pat McNamara (Jordan, Minn.) put the White team on the scoreboard at 126 pounds with a decision over freshman Jason Nusbaum (Centerville). Sophomore Ezra Kramer (Redford) scored a fall over the White teamis Aaron Burtch (St. Clair Shores) in the next match though, and Coach Minkelis troops were not threatened the rest of the way. Also victorious for the Green team were sophomore David Hughes (Lake Hopatacong, NJ), and sophomore Will Hill (Indianapolis, Ind.). Other winners for the White team were junior Issac Miller (Flint), junior Greg DeGrand (Saline), sophomore Nick Muzashvili, and Steve Delaney.

The Spartans will begin the regular season November 15-16, hosting the Michigan State open at Jenison Fieldhouse.
