MSU Wrestlers Fall to Second-Ranked Iowa
Morgan Gets 21st win of Season
EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State University wrestling team wrestled their second dual meet of the weekend on Sunday, losing 31-12 to defending NCAA Champion Iowa. The Spartans defeated Ohio State 22-13 on Friday in East Lansing.
Undefeated senior captain David Morgan (Ferndale) acquired his 21st win of the year by way of a forfeit at 118 pounds, staking the Spartans to a 6-0 lead. After two Iowa victories, freshman Nick Curry (Saginaw) evened the score at 9-9 with an 8-2 decision over the Hawkeye's Corey Stanley. Junior Greg Degrand (Saline) earned the final three points of the dual for MSU, a 10-8 victory over Gabe McMahan at 158 pounds. Iowa won the final four matches of the meet for the 31-12 win. With the victory, Iowa improves to 3-1 on the year, while State falls to an even 1-1.
Michigan State returns to action on January 10th, when they travel to Penn State to take on the tenth-ranked Nittany Lions.
