Feb. 6, 2014
EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State wrestling team closes out the dual season this weekend with road matches against Ohio State and Indiana.
The Spartans (5-9, 0-6 Big Ten) will face the Buckeyes (8-4, 3-4) at a neutral site in Massillon, Ohio, on Friday at 7 p.m. The dual is being hosted by OSU at Massillon Perry High School.
On Sunday, MSU heads to Bloomington, Ind., to take on the Hoosiers (7-8, 0-7) at 2 p.m. The match will be streamed live and is available for purchase on the Big Ten Digital Network at msuspartans.com.
MSU is coming off a home loss to top-ranked Penn State last Friday at Jenison Field House. Ohio State dropped a road dual at Michigan last Friday, but bounced back to defeat Purdue on Monday, while Indiana fell to Purdue and Minnesota last weekend.
The Buckeyes feature six starters in the latest InterMat Top 20 rankings, led by No. 3 Logan Stieber at 141 pounds.
The marquee match of the dual on Sunday will be a rematch of the MSU Open heavyweight championship back in November, as fourth-ranked Adam Chalfant battles No. 7 Mike McClure. Chalfant edged McClure to claim first place at the MSU Open on Nov. 9 in Jenison Field House, 5-3. Taylor Walsh is also ranked in the top 20 for the Hoosiers at No. 7 this week in the 157-pound weight class.
Michigan State will return home for its last home dual of the season next Friday, Feb. 14. The Spartans will play host to Olivet College at noon in Jenison Field House.
