Wrestling Signs Jimmy Russell to National Letter of Intent
Russell placed third at 215 pounds as a senior at the MHSAA state championships.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State head wrestling coach Tom Minkel has announced the signing of Jimmy Russell (Detroit Catholic Central) to a National Letter of Intent.
Russell joins Matthew Okaiye (Waterford, Mich./Kettering High School), Shane Shadaia (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester High School) and Shwan Shadaia (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester High School), who signed NLIs with MSU in November. All four student-athletes will join the program for the 2014-15 season.

Finished third at the MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) state championships as a senior at 215 pounds with a 43-9 record . . . helped lead the Shamrocks to the 2014 state championship, DCC's third in a row . . . defeated Dakota Powers of Davison, 7-1, in the Division 1 team state championships dual match . . . the Shamrocks finished the season ranked No. 17 in the nation by InterMat . . . named to the MichiganGrappler.com Metro Detroit Region Dream Team (second team) . . . FILA Cadet freestyle All-American (placed fifth) . . . named recipient of the Detroit Catholic Central Spolsky Award at the wrestling team's awards banquet . . . projected to wrestle at 197 pounds for the Spartans.
