EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State wrestling head coach Tom Minkel has announced the additions of Travis Curley (Dewitt, Mich./St. Johns High School), Hermilo Esquivel (Orland, Calif./Orland High School), Josh Heinzer (Lake Stevens, Wash./Iowa Central Community College) and Garth Yenter (California, Ky./Campbell County) to the Spartan wrestling program beginning in the 2012-13 season.
The four listed above join Nick Trimble (Sparta, Mich./Sparta High School) and Jordan Wohlfert (St. Johns, Mich./St. Johns High School) who signed in November to give MSU a class of six incoming freshmen. Both Trimble and Wohlfert were state champions in their senior seasons.

Travis Curley - DeWitt, Mich. - St. Johns High School
Named to the Division 2 All-Area team by the Lansing State Journal . . . was the Division 2 runner-up in the state at 152 pounds . . . Finished his senior season 42-6 . . . was ranked the No. 27 recruit in Michigan by MichiganGrappler.com . . . placed third at states in his junior season . . . was a 2010 Cadet Double All-American (Greco Roman & Freestyle Wrestling). . . is a three-time Michigan state place winner . . . boasts a career high school record of 176-35.
Hermilo Esquivel - Orland, Calif. - Orland High School
Is a three-time California state place winner . . . was a 2012 California state finalist . . . placed third at the 2012 High School National All-American tournament . . . finished his senior season with a record of 51-2 with 38 pins . . . was named to the 2012 High School All-American team by InterMat at 120 pounds . . . is projected to wrestle at either 125 or 133 pounds for the Spartans.
Josh Heinzer - Lake Stevens, Wash. - Iowa Central Community College
Is a three-time state wrestling champion at Lake Stevens High School . . . won the 2010 High School National Championship . . . won the title at 112 pounds during the 21st annual NHSCA Senior National Championships was a 2011 Junior College National Finalist and placed second . . . redshirted in 2011-12 at Iowa Central and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Garth Yenter - California, Ky. - Campbell County High School
Won the 120-pound Kentucky state title as a junior and a senior . . . posted a senior season record of 65-0 . . . four-time state place winner and finished second in the state as a sophomore . . . boasts a career high school record of 191-17 and was 145-3 in his last three seasons.
