Wrestling Signs Four to National Letters of Intent

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State wrestling head coach Tom Minkel has announced the additions of Travis Curley (Dewitt, Mich./St. Johns High School), Hermilo Esquivel (Orland, Calif./Orland High School), Josh Heinzer (Lake Stevens, Wash./Iowa Central Community College) and Garth Yenter (California, Ky./Campbell County) to the Spartan wrestling program beginning in the 2012-13 season. The four listed above join Nick Trimble (Sparta, Mich./Sparta High School) and Jordan Wohlfert (St. Johns, Mich./St. Johns High School) who signed in November to give MSU a class of six incoming freshmen. Both Trimble and Wohlfert were state champions in their senior seasons. Garth Yenter - California, Ky. - Campbell County High School Won the 120-pound Kentucky state title as a junior and a senior . . . posted a senior season record of 65-0 . . . four-time state place winner and finished second in the state as a sophomore . . . boasts a career high school record of 191-17 and was 145-3 in his last three seasons. |
