ABOUT THE COMPETITION
In collaboration with Elite Level Sports Marketing (ELSM), the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced eight finalists in the Best of Brand "Better than Good Graphic" category in the College Division.
The programs that were announced as finalists by the committee were the following: Cornell, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Stanford, Virginia, and Western Colorado State.
"The seeding in this category was extremely tight based on the quality of submissions," said ELSM CEO Coyte Cooper. "From No. 1 to No. 12, all of these entries are competitive and everyone has a shot of winning at this point. The voting will be critical for determining the top 3 and the eventual winner."
This "Better Than Good Graphic" category recognizes programs for developing a unique graphic that helped build their brand during the 2013-14 season.
"It is critical that our coaches are constantly working to build interest surrounding their programs," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. "Marketing has been one of our top priorities for growing the sport and these programs are making investments that help increase interest."
The criteria for determining the "Better than Good Graphic" award winner will feature two key elements: a panel of judges assessing annual performance (70%) and an online voting competition (30%). The online voting component will include 15% allocated to the actual vote totals and 15% to the creativity of campaign during the Battle Round voting.
