Meet the Spartans: Jimmy Muscato

Oct. 5, 2017

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State wrestling will feature a freshman periodically throughout the preseason in order to “Meet the Spartans” leading up to the 2017-18 season.

This week freshman Jimmy Muscato (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney High School) sat down with to answer some questions.

1. Why did you choose to wrestle at Michigan State?
I chose to wrestle at Michigan State because I’ve been a die-hard Spartan fan from the start, and to represent this school in the sport that I love is my dream.

2. What are you most excited about as you begin your Spartan wrestling career?
I am excited about not being the best guy in the room. I’ve dealt with that for six years and it was really hard to improve. I am excited to push myself and train with the best.

3. When did you first start wrestling?
I originally started wrestling when I was in the second grade.

4. Favorite wrestling memory?
My favorite wrestling memory was definitely when I pinned my last opponent to take seventh in the state, and to look back at all of my family who has been there from the start and say “we did it!”

5. What’s your major at Michigan State and why?
My major is mechanical engineering, I am going to pursue this because I enjoy mathematics and being able to make life easier for everyone.

6. Who has taught you the most about wrestling growing up?
Hands down, my dad. He has always been my coach and there’s no other way I would have had it.

7. What superhero power would you have if you could choose one?
The ability to fly. Without a doubt.

8. Favorite meal?
I enjoy Fettuccini Alfredo with a side of Texas Toast and some Caesar Salad.

9. Favorite TV show?
The Office. I don’t watch TV often, but when I do, I watch The Office.

10. Favorite thing to do besides wrestling?
I enjoy hanging out with my buddies, even though we always end up wrestling anyways.
