Meet the Spartans: Robert Rittenhouse

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State wrestling will feature a freshman periodically throughout the preseason in order to “Meet the Spartans” leading up to the 2017-18 season.

This week freshman Robert Rittenhouse (Bedminster, N.J./Rutgers Prep) sat down with to answer some questions.

1. Why did you choose to wrestle at Michigan State?
I chose to wrestle at Michigan State because I’ve always had a passion for wrestling, and always wanted to compete at the Division I level.

2. What are you most excited about as you begin your Spartan wrestling career?
I’m most excited about meeting and forming a forever bond and friendship with my teammates.

3. When did you first start wrestling?
I first started wrestling in 7th grade.

4. Favorite wrestling memory?
My favorite wrestling memory was the first time I pinned someone with a lat drop.

5. What’s your major at Michigan State and why?
I’m majoring in finance because I’m interested in money.

6. Who has taught you the most about wrestling growing up?
The person who taught me the most about wrestling was my high school coach, not only did we have a great athlete to coach relationship, but we also had a great friendship and respect for one another.

7. What superhero power would you have if you could choose one?
I would want to be able to read minds or have some sort of mind control.

Breaking Bad

10. Favorite thing to do besides wrestling?
My favorite thing to do besides wrestle is play guitar.
