MSU Wrestling Begins 2012-13 Season at Eastern Michigan Open
The Spartans placed 10 wrestlers in the EMU Open last year.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State wrestling team begins the 2012-13 season at the Eastern Michigan Open in Ypsilanti, Mich., on Saturday, Nov. 3. The unattached event will feature 450 Division I, II and III wrestlers from around the country and begins at 9 a.m. at Bowen Field House.
Two separate divisions will compete in the tournament. The freshman/sophomore division is available to first and second year wrestlers on a collegiate roster and all other wrestlers will compete in the open division.
MSU placed 10 wrestlers in the event last year, led by Roger Wildmo placing first in the freshman/sophomore division at 149 pounds. Current MSU wrestlers that also placed were Dan Osterman (fifth at 149 pounds), John Rizqallah (sixth at 184), and Nick McDiarmid (fifth at 197).
The tournament is double elimination and six places will be awarded in each weight class.
The Spartans return home the following weekend to host the Michigan State Open at Jenison Field House on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 9 a.m.
