EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State wrestling team and head coach Tom Minkel announced Thursday that three student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the program for the 2014-15 season.

Joining the Spartans will be Matthew Okaiye (Waterford, Mich./Kettering High School), Shane Shadaia (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester High School) and Shwan Shadaia (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester High School).

Below is a look at the three student-athletes:

Matthew Okaiye - 197 pounds - Waterford, Mich./Kettering High School
Placed third at 215 pounds at the 2013 Michigan state championships . . . defeated Adam Myers of Clarkston by major decision, 15-3, in the third-place match . . . finished the season with a 49-4 record . . . named one of the top wrestlers in the Class of 2014 by MichiganGrappler.com . . . placed seventh at the 2012 Michigan state championships as a sophomore; finished the year with a 35-13 record . . . projected to wrestle at 197 pounds for the Spartans.

Minkel on Okaiye: "Matt may be the sleeper big guy in the state of Michigan. He's tough, athletic and highly motivated. He'll bring a lot to our team."

Shane Shadaia - 174 pounds - Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester High School
Placed seventh at 171 pounds at the 2013 Michigan state championships as a junior . . . finished the season with a 36-9 record . . . also won a district title at 171 pounds . . . named one of the top wrestlers in the state by MichiganGrappler.com . . . helped lead Rochester to the Division 1 state semifinals in the team tournament . . . also lettered in football.

Minkel on Shane Shadaia: "Shane is an all-state wrestler who works extremely hard and is incredibly tough. I think Shane and his twin brother Shwan will really enhance our upper weights in the future."

Shwan Shadaia - 184 pounds - Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester High School
Won the 2013 Michigan Division 1 state title at 189 pounds as a junior and finished the season with a 54-1 record . . . became just the second wrestler from Rochester High School and the first since 1989 to win a state title . . . tallied an escape point in the final minute to defeat Clarkston's Chris Calvano, 4-3, in the state title match . . . named to the 2013 MichiganGrappler.com Dream Team (third team) . . . his only loss of the season was when he wrestled up a weight class against 215-pound state champion Brandon Sunday of Temperance Bedford . . . won the Oakland Activities Association league title . . . also won district, regional and Oakland Country titles . . . helped lead Rochester to the Division 1 state semifinals in the team tournament . . . enters his senior season ranked No. 18 nationally in his weight class by Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine . . . placed seventh as a sophomore at the Michigan state championships at 189 pounds; finished the season with a 46-12 record . . . also lettered in football.
