It was a much better second half for us. I love how our defense gunned it out in the second half to separate the game a little bit. I thought we got some great spark off the bench. Aisha Jefferson had lots of energy, and Courtney (Davidson) contributed a lot, too. A lot of people did great things, Victoria (Lucas-Perry) had nine rebounds which is a lot for a guard, Al (DeHaan) did a great job blocking shots. She blocked seven but probably changed 14. Katrina (Grantham) was solid, too. We had great pressure on the ball. I think we got a little bit better today, and the second half was definitely the reason why.
On the play in the second half...
We always want to play the game from the inside-out. It's the best way play the game, which we did not necessarily do in the first half. In the first half, we threw the ball away a lot. When we didn't do that it was an outside shot, so there was not a lot to salvage from the first half. I think the team was frustrated with that, but I think they were fired up to come out and change that for the second half and distribute the ball better. Those were definitely keys and difference makers for us.
On what she tells the team at halftime...
Well they know, they definitely were not pleased with the initial performance. I think you light a fire under them for focus. You cant waste away minutes, not at this level and not during this time of the year. For the most part, they are pretty ticked off at themselves. I think they need to learn that nothing can get in the way of a team effort. Individual agendas or anything else, nothing can get in the way of a team effort. We just need to move the ball better and minimize our turnovers as we saw after the first half.

On what happened with the momentum shift in the second half...
I think that the beginning of the second half was a real difference maker in the game. They got the momentum coming out of halftime and we struggled to get it back. We fought and we got within seven points a couple of times but we were not able to make that. We missed some free throws that could have taken us a bit closer, but you're right, I think they had a momentum shift at the beginning of the second half.
On Michigan State's defense...
I don't think anyone can really figure that out, they do a great job. There is no doubt that they match up really well with their defense, they box out. They have an added weapon this year with (Allyssa) DeHaan. It used to be you could get past the outside players and you could get to the basket a little easier, but she's a big target and she alters shots. I think she got to our posts mentally, they had to alter their shots when they faced up against her.
