Michigan State Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie

Opening statement...
It was a very defensive battle the whole way. We definitely were not very offensive minded. That's all it was, just a very defensive battle.

On the rebounding margin...
I'm appalled. For Korinne Campbell to get 17 rebounds in a game against us, I am appalled. Rebounding is about heart, and obviously she had a lot more heart than our players.

On rebounding...
At this point there are a lot of things we've been trying to work on. I'm not a `worrier'; it just really bothers you and ticks you off as a coach. You want your team to have heart and hustle.

Reason for bad rebounding...
It's when you don't have high goals for yourself. That's all I can deduct for you. It's about satisfaction, and we don't have anything to be satisfied about, we haven't won any championships, it's a very satisfied effort level. I think you saw much better effort in the second half. It was a completely different level of hustle in the second half.

Minnesota Head Coach Pam Borton

Opening statement...
Well I was proud of our kids desire and our heart and our effort tonight for 40 minutes. The difference in the game tonight was taking care of the basketball and making free throws in the last four minutes of the game. I think it came down to the last four minutes and you have to give Michigan State credit for going 8-for-8 from the foul line at the end of the game and you know, putting a lot of pressure on our young guards, and I think that was the difference at the end of the game.

On rebounding...
I think when we came into this game we knew that rebounding was the key. We felt like if we were giving up second shots and we were on the boards it was not going to be a ball game. They are a great team and a great rebounding team and we knew we had to rise to the challenge today.
