EAST LANSING, Mich. - In her first game in the green and white, freshman Tori Jankoska's 27 points led MSU to a 100-52 win over Ferris State on Wednesday evening in the exhibition opener at the Breslin Center. Jankoska made five 3-pointers, and added seven rebounds and three steals on the night.
Five Spartans scored in double-figures in the game, including senior Annalise Pickrel, who shot 4-for-5 from behind the arc. Redshirt freshman Aerial Powers put up 13 points in her first game in uniform to add to her seven rebounds. Senior Klarissa Bell and junior Kiana Johnson each chipped in 10 points apiece, while Becca Mills led the Spartans on the glass with nine rebounds.
After the Bulldogs maintained a lead on the Spartans for the first three minutes, MSU went on a 24-0 run to open up the game.
Michigan State corralled 19 offensive rebounds in the game leading to a 28-0 margin in second chance points. The Spartans out-rebounded the Bulldogs 55-23.
MSU had a balanced offensive attack as 41 of the Spartans' points came off the bench. The team also maintained a tough defense, holding Ferris State to 19-56 (33.9%) from the floor.
Leading the Bulldogs was Sarah DeShone who had 18 points and three rebounds.
The Spartans will be back in action in their second and final exhibition game as they host Grand Valley State on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 4:30 p.m.
