I was just really pleased to get that first one out of the way. I was somewhat pleased with our zone at times. I think we're going to have to play quite a bit of that, given our personnel situation. Those are some of the things that we have to get better at. But I think our kids responded well given the adversity that we've dealt with lately.
On being nervous:
I'm always nervous. No matter where I've coached or what team I'm coaching, I've always got that pit in my stomach, the anxiety and nervousness. Obviously Michigan State really wanted to get that first victory for sure.
On how much the freshman played:
That's a good thing, because we got a lot of them and they are going to play a lot. I think they did a nice job. We started three of the four. Taja Wilson really did a nice job coming off the bench and sparking up on the boards and defensively. So we need them. When Aisha went down, I basically told them, "We don't have freshman any more. Sophomores aren't sophomores. Juniors aren't juniors. Everybody really needs to take ownership of this team." I think they did a nice job of that tonight.
On how DeHaan played:
I think Allyssa did a really nice job. I've talked to her about having to play some extended minutes for us. We're trying to rest her on the media timeouts. So she gets that extra rest and that extra minute so that we can get her back in. I think she has responded really well, especially given the situation with Aisha being out. She gave us some great minutes. She did some really great things. She was able to find shooters on the outside. And she blocked some shots in the middle of our zone, which was what we needed her to do.
